Get your Groupon questions answered here!

We're excited to welcome new Groupon members to The Roost! Roosters was named Best Place to Laugh Till You Cry by the ABC7 Bay Area A-List three years in a row, so you're at the right place. We've got some fantastic shows coming up over the next few months sure to tickle your gizzard, so stock up on admission vouchers now!

Here's answers to some frequently asked questions:
  • Roosters is in the fun business! We have a relaxed atmosphere and intimate showroom where you're never too far from the stage. Our dress code is casual but feel free to get dressed to the nines! Roosters is perfect for date night, birthday celebrations, bachelor/bachelorette parties or any other reason to get out of the coop. But no one really needs a reason to laugh, do they? They just need a laugh!

  • We have hilarious pro shows Thursdays through Sundays with headliners seen on Leno, Letterman, Conan, Kimmel, Ferguson, Comedy Central, Last Comic Standing and more! Your Groupon is valid for any of those shows, unless it is a Special Event (see below). You can always find our calendar at www.RoosterTFeathers.com

  • You must be 21 and over only, and we're strict about that. You'll need to have a valid government issued photo ID, like a drivers license, military ID, passport or CA ID if you are lucky enough to be young or look young!

  • We have a two-item minimum purchase per person policy. That can be either food or drinks and it doesn't have to be alcohol. We have a full bar, a wide range of non-alcoholic beverages and a limited snack food menu. If you're looking to make an evening of it with a nice dinner before the show, there are plenty of nearby restaurants, including PF Changs, Chipotle, Pasta Pomodora and, now open across the street, Five Guys Burgers and Pizza My Heart, among others.

  • Groupons are not valid for Special Events. Special Events are dates like New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day and specially-produced shows. Unlike other clubs, we don't make every weekend a Special Event just to keep you from using your Groupon! We currently have one Special Event planned over the next few months, for the Fortune Feimster shows. All the rest of our shows through the end of the year are fair game!  Any Special Event would be listed on our Web site, in-house calendar, outgoing phone voice message, etc. so it should be pretty obvious. Please note that since Groupon vouchers are valid Thursday through Sunday only, they are not valid on Tuesday or Wednesday, and therefore cannot be used for our New Talent Competition or Open Mic Nights.

  • We have unlimited free parking. Parking is available on the street in front of the club, on the side streets, in the Goodyear Service Center lot (after 6pm), and in the Allario shopping center lot just across Murphy street from us.

  • To redeem your Groupon, just call us at 408.736.0921 to make a reservation and mention the Groupon. (We don't need the Groupon number when you make your reservation.) You can find information about our upcoming shows on the Calendar on our Web site, but you can't redeem your Groupon there. Print it out and bring it in with you to hand in at the door, or if you have it on your smart phone app we can take a look at it that way too.

  • It is General Admission seating with a Groupon, so that just means that the earlier you arrive for the show the more seating options will be available. Also, you need to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the show start time or you could lose your spot if we're sold out.

  • You can connect with us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (username @RoosterTF) to find out more about the club, our shows, special promotions, comedy news and other fun stuff!

  • We're fun and relaxed, but if your idea of fun is to come to a comedy show and talk loudly with your friends, heckle the comedians or just plain scowl, this is not the comedy club for you!
Have other questions? Call us at 408.736.0921. You might have to leave a message, but we WILL call you back. Or you can send an email to info@roostertfeathers.com. Thanks, and we're looking forward to seeing you soon!

Pro Tip: Navigating the Roosters Voice Mail System

Yes, yes, we know...our outgoing voice-mail message on the Roosters information and reservation phone line can seem kind of long, but there's solid info in there, especially for people not familiar with Rooster T. Feathers.

As you know, Rooster T. Feathers is a small, family-owned business. We keep our admission and drink prices low the old-fashioned way...by keeping costs low! We do not have a "box office" or a full-time person manning the phone lines. That means we rely on a voice mail system to accept reservations for our shows each week. You call us at 408.736.0921, press 0 for Information and Reservations, listen to our outgoing voice message, then leave all your relevant reservation information on our secure voice mail after the beep. When we get to the office, we retrieve the reservation messages, call back anyone that we have a question for, and anyone that requested a call back, and log the reservation.

Easy, squeezy. The only "problem" with this approach is we find that we have to include a lot of info in our outgoing voice message: to help people know what shows we have this week, show times and prices, key info about making reservations, and what info we actually need for your reservation. We think we're being helpful, but some of you--especially if you know exactly what to do--seem to get frustrated!

Well, take heart. There is a way to get straight to the beep and avoid all that stuff you've heard lots of times before.

If you are a regular and know exactly what information we need when you leave a reservation, here's a time-saving tip for you. When you call our information and reservation line at 408.736.0921 Option 0, always listen to the very beginning of the outgoing message. That's where we'll say which shows might be sold out. Once you know the show you want to see is not sold out, you can hit the "#" key to go straight to leaving a message. That way you can avoid the rest of the message that you've heard lots and lots of times before.

In summary, when leaving a reservation on Roosters voice mail system:
1. If you're new to Rooster T. Feathers, please listen to the outgoing message in its entirety, to avoid confusion or questions further along in the process.
2. If you are a regular customer, ALWAYS listen to at least the first few sentences of the outgoing message. This is when we'll let you know if any upcoming shows are sold out, or any other crucial info you'll need to know.
3. Once you got all the info you need and are ready to start leaving your reservation information, just press the "#" key, listen for the beep (it should come right away), then start talking.
4. After leaving all your reservation information, just hang up...you're done!

For more information about making reservations at Roosters, including how to get pre-assigned, priority seating, please click here to read more about on our site.

Give it a try when you make your reservation for this week's shows!

Happy Veterans Day! Free entry for military personnel & veterans 11/7--11/10

"Without heroes, we are all plain people, and don't know how far we can go."-Bernard Malamud

On Monday, November 11, we celebrate Veterans Day to honor the men and women who have served our country. Like many Americans, we at Roosters have current and former military personnel in our immediate and extended families, and count lots of veterans among our friends. We are proud to support our active duty troops and those who have gone before them.

But, we're a comedy club, so we don't want to get too heavy, right? That's why we open our doors this week to all military personnel and veterans and invite them to get their laugh on!

Roosters is offering free admission to any Matt Kirshen show, Thursday November 7 through Sunday November 10 for all active duty, retired, or reserved military personnel, plus veterans of all branches and dependent spouses. Just call us for a reservation at 408.736.0921, and at the door show us your valid military ID, VA card, dog tags or other identifying item.

London born Matt Kirshen's precision wit has earned him an impressive reputation on the international comedy circuit. Most recently his appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Paul Provenza’s Green Room, and as a finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing has earned him a whole new host of fans in the United States and a surprising number of other countries worldwide.

His youthful looks disguise a veteran comic with almost a decade of experience, and a wealth of smart, funny and relate-able material. While it's his prime-time NBC appearances that most American comedy fans will recognize him from, they are often surprised at the breadth and scope of his material, described by one reviewer as "intelligent, but with the emphasis firmly on the funny."

Appearing along with Matt is featured performer Jason Resler, himself a well-decorated veteran of the U.S. Navy. If you ask him, "Seaman Resler" will tell you lots of great tales from his time in service!

Reservations are strongly encouraged, seating will be general admission, and as always our two-item minimum purchase per person applies. Also, we're 21 and over only, and we will need to see your "regular" ID if you look young. Sorry, no discounts through the online ticketing service; You'll have to call the club at 408.736.0921 to reserve your spot.

We Salute Our Troops! Free Entry with Military ID, 5/16--5/19

This Saturday May 18 is Armed Forces Day, and Rooster T. Feathers wants to thank you for your service! Enjoy FREE entry for two with your valid Military ID at any Steve Trevino show this week, Thursday May 16 through Sunday May 19.

Whether active, retired, reserved or dependent spouse, just show us your ID from any branch of the Armed Forces, and you and a guest get to enjoy a hilarious comedy show!

Steve Trevino always knew he wanted to do stand up from the time he told jokes in his 2nd grade talent show.  A small town boy, Steve stayed up late watching “Evening at the Improv” on TV and knew that if he wanted to be a comedian he would have to move to a city with an Improv.  After high school, Steve got a job as a door man at the Addison Improv in order to garner stage time.   He quickly earned his stripes to become the house MC, opening up for big acts traveling through the club who encouraged him to bite the bullet and move to Los Angeles.

Steve Trevino's first one-hour stand-up special, Showtime's Grampa Joe's Son, is a testament to his years growing up in a Mexican-American household in the heart of Corpus Cristi, Texas and a result of his ten-years touring on the road, beginning as an opener for Carlos Mencia.

Also appearing: Jesus Trejo and Colleen Watson. Reservations are encouraged. Call 408.736.0921 for more information or to make reservations.

Showtimes:
Thursday 5/16, 8pm
Friday 5/17, 9pm
Saturday 5/18, 8pm and 10:30pm
Sunday 5/19, 8pm

Coupon Amnesty, March 28-30 2013

Bring in any Rooster T. Feathers coupon, ticket or pass--whether valid or not--and we'll take it!

Laugh in the face of expiration dates...they mean nothing to us Thursday March 28 through Saturday March 30 for any  Robert Duchaine show.

Robert Duchaine is a surly misanthrope. His sarcastic social commentary pokes fun at a myriad of topics including race, religion, and relationships. He’s been kicked out of every organization he was ever forced to join, from the Cub Scouts to the U.S. Army, and fired from every job he ever finagled. Robert finally found a refuge where he can make his own rules - the stand-up comedy stage. Now an established national touring headliner, Robert performs regularly in Las Vegas show rooms, colleges, comedy clubs and concert venues. Duchaine is also involved in avant-garde theater and independent film. Robert's unique perspective fuels an act that pushes the envelope.

Duchaine is candid, entertaining, and always hilarious!

"...this guy is a must see!" --Arts and Entertainment Weekly
"...like having a one-sided conversation with your funniest friend." --The Oregonian"
"...only Robert Duchaine rises above..." --Backstage West

Celebrate 40 years of Pong with Geeks & Gamers Comedy 11/28

Geeks & Gamers Comedy Showcase: A Pong 40th Anniversary Celebration

Co-sponsored by the Computer History Museum, with Special Guest Allan Alcorn, Pong Designer

Join us Wednesday November 28 as we celebrate the birth of the Video Game Industry, right in our very own bar!

The original Pong machine!
In 1972, Allan Alcorn created Pong as a training exercise assigned to him by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell. Surprised by the quality of Alcorn's work, Atari decided to manufacture the game. Pong quickly caught on and became the first commercially successful video game, which led to the start of the video game industry. (source: Wikipedia)

In the fall of 1972, the Pong machine designed by Alcorn was beta-tested in the Sunnyvale bar called Andy Capp’s Tavern, located at 157 W El Camino Real. 40 years later, Rooster T. Feathers Comedy Club now occupies this historic building. The original Pong machine is currently on display at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.

With host Erikka Innes (Sex with Nerds) and headliner Tim Babb (Last Comic Standing, Wipeout), the Geeks and Gamers Comedy Showcase will feature a full line up of comedians, some pro and some amateur, beta-testing their jokes! The festivities will include a few words from Allan Alcorn, a prize for the best Gaming joke, and a special grand prize drawing featuring a gift bag from the Computer History Museum plus free tickets to an upcoming Roosters’ show.

Coupon Amnesty for Jay Larson Shows, 10/25-10/28

Bring in any Rooster T. Feathers coupon, ticket or pass--whether valid or not--and we'll take it!

Laugh in the face of expiration dates...they mean nothing to us Thursday October 25 through Sunday October 28 for any Jay Larson show.

Jay Larson is originally from Stoneham, Massachusetts. He plucks from his childhood, his time living in a condemned house in Venice, California and his outlandish imagination to create a fresh original and oddly unique comedic voice. His comedy dares his audience to question reality by exploring the metaphysical and surreal worlds. His strong perspective and solipsistic view landed Jay at the Montreal Comedy Festival. Jay's performance prompted Variety to note him as one of the top new faces and Time Out NY described him as "a unique voice worth supporting."

Since Montreal, Jay has performed on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" twice, Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham," AMC's "Date Night" and a 14 day tour of Kuwait and Iraq entertaining the troops. He can be seen in "The Steamer," an original web series and the comedy "Nacho Mountain." Jay continues to shoot plenty of short films with Walleye Pictures so keep an eye out!

Want to see the Friday show but your coupon is valid only for Sunday? Who cares! Bring it in anyway. That's what amnesty is all about.

We'll take expired birthday passes, old Groupon or Town Hog vouchers, expired tickets, an Entertainment Book coupon from 2007, etc. We'll even take those super-old tickets from so long ago it was before the Rooster updated his image, i.e., back in the days of the top hat and spats! We'll also accept a Thursday ticket on a Saturday, or a pass for 10:30 at the 8pm or 9pm show, etc. Sorry, we don't take competitors coupons though!

You have to call to make reservations; We don't accept coupons through the Web site. Just call 408.736.0921 to leave your reservation details. But, you can click here to read more about the show on our Web site.

Thanks and we'll see you at the show!

Catch Steve Trevino on Showtime October 4, and at Roosters October 11-14!

STEVE TREVINO’S COMEDY SPECIAL PREMIERES THURSDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2012
There’s a new kind of Mexican in town, “Steve Trevino: Grandpa Joe’s Son”

Los Angeles, CA, September 18, 2012
— After 10 years headlining on the national comedy circuit, Steve Trevino makes his SHOWTIME® debut in October with his first one-hour comedy special, “Grandpa Joe’s Son.” Filmed at the California Theatre in San Bernardino, Calif., the special will air at 10 p.m. ET/PT Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.

Jason T. Davis, a Pop Culture blogger with ireadculture.com, explains how Steve Trevino strays away from the Latino stereotypes inside his comedy routine, “Trevino, a stand-up comic from South Texas, veers away from predictable ethnic references to instead focus on blue-collar, observational humor about life as a member of the working class. Infused with an energy only a guy from Texas could generate, Trevino tells stories of growing up as a kid in a small town, his closeted gay uncle, his new engagement and his dog.”

It was important to Trevino that he accurately reflects who he is as a person in his stand-up routine. Trevino is proud to be Mexican, but more importantly, he’s proud to be a Texan and an American. “I didn't want it to be a bunch of jokes relying on ethnic punch lines and premises," says Trevino. "Instead, the show is a mix of personal stories and my perspective on life as I have known it until now. I want to give a voice to people like me.  My hope for this special is to show America that there is a new kind of Mexican in town and he's American---and damn proud of it.”

A testament to the time he’s spent developing material and building a fan base on the road, Trevino’s supporters showed up in full force to attend the taping. Friday’s rush-hour traffic and 100-degree heat didn’t prevent his fans from filling the 1,700 seat California Theatre. LOL Comedy Producer and Director Scott Montoya said, “Steve killed it and it’s always great to see someone get a well-deserved shot, but more importantly, to deliver on that shot.”

Steve Trevino has traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan to entertain the troops--- a cause he supports. Steve’s credits include The Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Comedy.TV, Latin Nation, Comedy Central, and Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen, to name a few.

Steve Trevino: "Grandpa Joe's Son" was produced and directed by Scott Montoya and produced by Neal Marshall. Produced in its entirety by LOL Comedy Inc. 2012, for the Showtime® Network as part of the 4th annual LOL Comedy Festival, at the California Theatre in San Bernardino. Steve Trevino will be headlining Rooster T. Feathers Thursday October 11 through Sunday October 14. For tickets and additional information, click here, or call 408.736.0921.
